Website Customization: What can we do?Most people in this trendy world get somewhat upset when they don't look entirely presentable to their peer group. This is also true in website designing. Everyone wants their site to look great and if not great at least the best they can make it. There are some thing below that can help you with this goal.Color schemes and themes are very important to your site design. Always try to choose matching or complimentary colors. Don't get to carried away with colors. Lime green and bright yellow wouldn't be too good. Never mix colors that make people go ewww, I hate that. It depends on the purpose of the website to some extent but even so mixing purple and yellow for graphics probably won't be a good thing. It doesn't look professional. The theme should always suit the company or organization and use company colors if possible. If the site is selling food a machinery theme wouldn't be appropriate. Keep your theme the same across every page on your site.
Fonts should probably be sans serif and large enough to read. One web study found that people prefer Arial font and in a font size of 12-14 points. Some sites may want to use much fancier fonts such as an art site or even graphics designers. Using fancy fonts that may irritate surfers and should only be done if you know exactly what you are doing. Last but not least, try to see your site the way visitors are going to see it. This is hard to do because you designed it and you know what everything means and where it goes. Have someone on your family or some friends visit your site and then ask them what their biggest complaints are. Then don't let your ego get in the way but do go fix what they complained about. If you plan using the guidelines you find on this site you should be just fine. |
