"Designing search engine friendly pages"

For a lot of sites a major traffic source is the search engines like Google, MSN or Yahoo to name the big three. There's not much point in building a website unless you can also have visitors to the site. By designing a site that's friendly to search engines you'll rank on on their results pages and have more people coming to your website.

Almost all search engines use crawlers or robots to go thru your site and index it so they can list it on their results pages. They follow the links on your site to a page, capture the contents of that page and record it in their database and then pull it up as people do a search.

Avoid using frames if you want your site to be easy to index. They do still confuse search engine crawlers and they might not even index your whole site because of the frames. Frames also make it hard for people to bookmark individual pages on your site. If they can't return to the page they are interested in, easily, they won't bother and you will also lose sales.

The world's easiest step-by-step system to consistently generate over 500+ free search engine visitors PER DAY to YOUR website... within 30 days or less. Plus a free SEO mini course for you.

While search engines are getting better at indexing and reading lots of different things, don't put important information in flash movies or in images. Search engine robots find text the easiest to read in your html source code. If you use flash movies or graphics to present important info your search engine positions will be affected and not in a good way.

Make sure all of your pages use meta tags. The title of your page will let search engine crawlers know right away what your page is about. Always use the description meta tag as a lot of search engines will use this as a description of your site. The keywords meta tag is less important but I still use it.

Some search engines no longer pay any attention to the keywords meta tag because so may webmasters abused it and used it to spam. However the ones who don't use it just ignore it and the others who do use it will give you some extra ranking for it so it doesn't hurt to have it on your page. Just don't stuff it full of spammed keywords. Only use words that are actually on your page.
