The Importance of A Good DesignGood design comes into play because people will judge you by how your site looks. Your website is a representation of you or your company whether your company exists anywhere but online. The website is your online business just like this one is my on site business. When you have a site people can't see you so that's why the judge you and your trustworthiness by your website design so it does need to be good.If you were running a company off of the net would you allow salespeople to be dressed casually or inappropriately? when they are selling to your customers. As with most offline businesses the staff wear professional looking clothes or outfits. Why? Because it tells your customer you are running a professional business. This is a good idea because whether we like it or not, first impressions do matter. It's pretty much the same with your website. If it's put together badly and looks like a quick fix you are telling your visitors that you aren't very professional and you don't care about quality. This is fine for a site where you are just posting personal info for other members of your family to see but it's not good for a site where you want to convey professionalism.
If you have a good professional layout and design you give the surfers who visit your site the idea that you have given careful attention to every little detail and you care about how your site looks and represents you. That you are focused, organized and that you mean business. Everything related to your company should be well designed. From business cards to letterheads to brochures if you have them. Every little detail matters. All of these items, including your website are what your customers see as the face of your business. Think of the badly dressed salesperson and you'll get the point easily. If you are doing your own site design keep working at it until you are satisfied with it and proud to show it to the billion or so people now on the net. |
