Do I Need One? Should I Create a Website?Young adults, kids, grandparents and tons of people now have their own websites. Most aren't to make money with tho. People always want to follow the latest trends no mater what it's in, fashion, sports and those kinds of things. I seriously doubt this ia a trend tho, I think it's here to stay and I think more and more people will have their own personal websites. If they are going to be on the net then you might as well make some money from them. Before you ever get around to creating a website there are some things to consider. Such as the cost of the hosting, quality of the host, how you are going to use the site, bandwidth you may use and many other things. You can do a search on website hosting and come up with tons of places that will host your site. Prices can range from as low as a couple bucks per month for a small site to thousands per month for a huge site. Just because hosting is cheap doesn't mean it's a bad host and just because it's high priced doesn't mean it's good. You want to check for reliability as uptime should be at least 99.9% or higher. What services do they provide, how responsive is their tech support if you need help with an issue. A host who has been around for a long time is probably a decent host and prices will be somewhere in the mid range. I have 3 servers that I pay $250.00 for and I have single site accounts for $5.95 per month. You can find any price you wish.
Depending on what kind of site you are going to have you may want to hire a pro. For some it can be the best option if it's going to be a very complicated site with java, shopping carts, asp pages, security, etc. a pro will be a good investment to do all of the coding. If your site is going to be relatively simple, like this one, you can do it yourself. It's not that hard and all of the things out there like Front Page or the wysiwyg editors make it so you can create sits with little experience with html and coding. The biggest thing before building a website is do you actually need one. Probably not unless you are a business. However if you want to make some money, have a place for you and your friends to gather or promote yourself in a positive way then get one. They don't cost that much and you can even find free hosts if you don't mind the ads they put on your site. Just like everything else, planning for a website is the key to success. |
