Blog posts and blog links value.I've told you before that in my opinion blogs far outweigh sites as a way of getting highly relevant and on topic links to places where you want them to go. It's also not to hard to get a high ranking in the search engine results pages with a blog post.I've mentioned before that I've been a webmaster for a long time. Since late 1996 and I got my first domain in 1997. I still have it and it's now an adult paysite. It's always been an adult site but I turned it into a large paysite a few years ago because I wanted the recurring revenue for myself. I was checking the results for some of my adult terms for my websites when I noticed that one of my blog posts was ranking at #6 for a popular and competitive term. No longtail stuff here as it was a two word term and thought to be hard to rank for. If you want to see the adult blog, it does have other things on it besides adult. Several good pages on linking, strategies, site design and text, etc. If you want to see it click on the following link and then click on the link in that post. Blog links and posts Sorry to have to give you the run around but I don't want to link this site directly to an adult site as Google will see it as this site is linking to a bad neighborhood. Anyway, click the above link and then click the link in that post to get to the adult blog. Check it out as much as you are comfortable with. There are no adult pics or anything like that. Just posts with links in them to other sites with short descriptions. You can tell what's adult relaed by looking at the category. Now I have no idea when the post was ranked because I don't check ranking for blog posts. It was totally accidental that I discovered it at all. However I was checking on another adult site that has lots of pages and around 40 incoming links plus links from my own sites. The front page of the site is about 4 times as long as the short blog post, uses the keyword more and I've done everything right with it. It gets good traffic and makes me a few hundred a month. I magine my surprise when the blog post was ranked 4 spots higher than my site was. If that doesn't show you the power of blog posts and that Google favors blogs nothing will. All of my domains in the same niche are on different Class C IP addresses and that also helps my blog posts rank high. Within that high ranking post I had two links to two pages of my various sites. You see, I'm using he adult blog to help some of my samples pages and other pages that directories won't let you submit. Using your blog to link to other of your pages on other of your sites is a good strategy. Particularly to pages that aren't your front page. I rank my pages by importance to the site and then link to the most important ones first. Just click the link above and go read what I have on the blog about links and linking. Now my adult blog is about 8 years old so is seasoned in the serch engines. It used to be a wwwboard forum and I finally updated it to a blog to see what would happen. The forum used to fluctuate between a PR 3 and a PR 5. I used a 302 redirect to get everything going to the blog front page and when Google updates PR again it should be a PR4. If you are considering trying something like this do it on an old domain if you have one. It takes lots more work to get a new domain to rank high. |
