Google Adsense Accounts

Is your google adsense account disabled? If it is it makes it very hard to make money with adsense and worse yet, it's probably your own fault. Here's an adsense tip for you, don't mess with Google and follow all of their rules. If you don't they will disable your account in a heartbeat.

If your google adsense account has been disabled the top alternative adsense is probably Yahoo Publishers Network or YPN. However just because it's the top alternative to most people doesn't mean there isn't something that will work better on your site. Here's the link to YPN, Top alternative adsense so you can check it out for your self.

If you are having problems with your account or you aren't making any money with your adsense account you might want to go to Google for the google adsense tutoriali. You can go to your adsense account and sign in then click on the resources tab and you should find everything you need to know to run a successful Adsense website. I'd also recommend you do the adsense authentication for your site. When you authenticate adsense you are going to prevent problems in the future.

While I may be telling you about google adsense today it's not the real focus of this page. I use adsense on quite a few sites and when I started I didn't know a thing about it. Lol, there are some that might say I still don't but I am making some money with it.

One of the problems I see is the absence of really good information from people who are highly successful with adsense. Any idiot can tell you anything and make up the facts and figures to prove it. As Craig Ferguson says, "It's on the net, it must be true." Lol, NOT!

For instance, one dumbass guru said never, ever, use the 468x60 ads because they look to much like banners so no one will ever click on them. He even went so far as to recommend using one of the square styles like the 250x250 or the 300x250 at the top left of a blog post or even in a site.

So, because I hadn't gotten that far into it yet I changed everything I had except two sites to what he recommended. Now I was really gonna make a lot of money because I had an "Expert" telling me what worked best and what didn't work well at all. Nice huh. Now that I'd gotten rid of the majority of my 468x60 banners, according to him, my adsense earnings were going to explode.

Funny, not only didn't my earnings explode, my adsense earnings declined 57%. Whoa, not what I expected and most definitely not what I wanted. So I left the test that way for a month to get a good baseline for the next test.

Yep, the next test was to put my 468x60 banners back up in the same positions they were before. Hmmm, earnings went right back to where they had been previously. So much for that expert. However being a damn fool I listened to yet another expert on something else.

Considering the two experts are affiliated I should have expected bad results but then again, these are two of the top experts on adsense and making money from adsense. The next idiot was saying that if you have a high page view site or page but that site or page has a low ctr then you should remove that page or site from adsense as google pays more if you have a higher CTR. At the least they would run higher paying ads on my site if I had a higher ctr and I'd make more money.

That's logical isn't it? Just as the first expert I listened to. Highly logical and it makes great sense in a very logical way. Problem is conventional logic doesn't always mean it works and that's particularly true on the net.

So I went and removed one of my sites that was getting about 20K page views per month and had a ctr of around 0.67% which is less than a one percent ctr. The rest of my sites or pages were averaging over a 5% ctr and it made sense that the one site might be dragging all sites or pages, pay, down.

Funny but after the June results I couldn't wait for July to begin so I could start making the big bucks with adsense. Even funnier, when I checked July stats today and compared to June stats I was actually making less per click even tho my ctr had risen to 7% over all sites and pages. BTW, I have a few pages that average over 10% for ctr.

When you divide the money I made in June by the number of people who clicked on an ad to get a pay amount per click and did the same for July, guess what. In July I made less per click than I did it June. Now the expert said it might take a week or two for Google Adsense to make the adjustment and serve better paying ads because my ctr had gone way up over what it was. Hmmm, I've waited 31 days for that to happen and it hasn't happened yet.

Once again listening to the supposed experts has cost me more money. Once again it appears the highly valued advice was absolutely worthless. Sheesh, what's a guy or gal to do to make more money with Adsense?

Test! Just like I tested what the Adsense experts said would work best and make the most money. Test everything and test every layout that makes sense for your site. Keep track of your results both before and after. Don't delete those after the test is done. You will want to refer back to them in the future.

Test different site layouts, test different ad block sizes, test different colors in the ad blocks. You might be surprised to find that all the experts you listened to were wrong about your site. Now I'll never tell you I'm an expert. I'm not. I'm just someone with a bit of knowledge and have the ability to test things for myself. However that's enough to prove the "experts" don't always know what they are talking about.

Don't be afraid to make changes, if something doesn't work you can always put it back. If you have scads of traffic you may be able to tell in one day, if you have little traffic it may take a month. The point is if you aren't happy with your money then make some changes, document them, keep them if they are better than what you were doing and if they aren't then just put it back the way it was and try something else. Google Adsense isn't the only thing out there so you might even go so far as to setup a site using one of the alternatives and see what happens.
