Bad Credit History

Bad credit history is just plain bad for you. That’s because it makes you look irresponsible and unreliable so no one wants to loan you money. You get bad credit when you don’t pay your bills, loans or credit card, even if it was an honest mistake. Our society is increasingly turning to plastic over paper and while we let grocers put our purchases into environmentally unfriendly plastic bags instead of paper ones, we also whip out our credit cards instead of cash when purchasing them. So it’s difficult, if not impossible, to get through life without a credit card, and without it you have a problem. And with it, you have a problem if your credit isn’t good.

A bad credit history can prevent you from having a place to live. That’s, if it’s not in a questionable area or owned by a questionable landlord. When you rent or buy a place, a credit check will be done and if the results aren’t so great, you’ll be passed over for another person because it looks like you won’t be financially reliable. If good credit is a problem for you, you might have better luck renting a place from someone who isn’t “official” and doesn’t go through all of those procedures. But of course, by doing that you’re taking some chances.

Likewise, a bad credit history can prevent you from getting a job. Employers will perform background and credit checks on you, and applicants with bad credit will be passed over for applicants with good credit because they appear more dependable than you do. So if you keep getting passed over, you might have to look for something under the table.

A bad credit history can prevent you from getting a phone plan. Cell phone companies do a credit check on customers before they purchase a cell phone and a cell phone plan. If your credit check doesn’t pass, your purchase won’t come through, and you can forget about having a cell phone or you can lay down a deposit of up to $500 to bypass the credit check. That’s a big chunk out of your wallet so you might just opt for a pay as you go cell phone instead.

So in short, life is so much better when you have good credit. Make sure to pay your credit bills on time and keep your credit history clean.
